Book in Hemsedal
Hemsedal often claims to be the "Scandinavian Alps”. It is a beautiful area with mountains, good alpine feeling and good snow conditions. The season runs from mid-November to early May. Its geographical location ensures that there usually is plenty of snow, but snow cannons cover major parts of the ski resorts in terms of milder weather as well as lay a good foundation when they open up for the season.
Hemsedal has two ski areas: Hemsedal Ski and Solheisen Ski Centre. In total there are 48 pistes, including 19 green, 12 blue, 9 red and 8 black. The longest run is 6 kilometers, which is very long for being in Scandinavia. There are 22 high capacity ski lifts, so there are usually not any queues. For snowboarders there is much to discover! 2 halfpipes and lots of jumps and rails.
Hemsedal is owned by Skistar, which is a Swedish company that owns several ski resorts. They are very commercial but have excellent service and facilities.
