Stryn is famous for summer skiing. People have been skiing here during the summer since the 1930s. During the 1980’s and 1990’s the village underwent some major modernization projects and is now of excellent condition. Many skiers find that Stryn summer skiing is the best in Europe, even better than in the Alps due to better ski slopes, better snow conditions and more beautiful surroundings.

The resort is located on Tystig’s glacier at about 1,600 meters above sea level. The surrounding peaks are about 1,900 meters. There are currently three lifts and eight pistes, including 1 blue, 1 black and 6 red. There is an area for children and beginners at the foot of the mountain, served by a ski lift built in 2007.

Activites in Stryn

Stryn is no big ski resort and the range of activities is mainly associated with outdoor activities. Since most visitors come here during the summer there's a lot to do even for those who don’t ski. You can hike, fish, rock-climb or just take lovely walks. In the area you will also find some national parks that are well worth a visit: Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalpark and Geiranger.

Travelling to Stryn

Stryn is located in Nordfjord in western Norway. It is actually a bit tricky to get here. Ålesund and Sandane airports are the closest ones. Rent a car and drive to Stryn following route 258.
