Sestriere does not have an Alpine heritage, but was actually constructed to become a ski resort. It does have advantages even if it lacks some of the cozyness of old chalets and cobbled streets. One main advantage is that it is very comfortable with short distance and proximity to ski slopes and other facilities. Another main advantage is the location – it is only an hour’s drive from Turin/Torino on good roads.

The village is located above 2,000 meters which makes it very attractive for skiers who appreciate a good snow cover and prefer to ski on natural snow.
