Book in Passo Tonale
Passo Tonale is on the border between the provinces of Lombardy and Trentino. Through a newly introduced connection with Ponte di Legno and Temu, the ski area Adamello Ski has formed and turned the area into a real newcomer in the alpine world. The slopes of Passo Tonale are perfectly facing the sun but at the same time located at a quite high altitude ranging from about 1,800 meters to 3,100 meters, thus ensuring a good snow coverage. Passo Tonale is one of the first ski areas to open up for the season and among the last to close. Up on the glacier Ghiacciaio Presena at about 3,000 meters above sea level you can ski all year around!
Through the connection to Ponte di Legno, you can explore also that ski area, which is situated at a slightly lower altitude at around 1,200 meters. There are snow cannons to ensure that there is loads of snow even at the beginning and at the end of the season. Ponte di Legno is a lovely resort with old skiing traditions dating back a century.
In Temu, a little further down at 1,114 meters, you will find mixed kinds of pistes, including forest runs. The last resort in the area is Vermiglio (1,200 meters) where you will find the atmosphere to be more laid back and quiet. This is where you should head if you are in favor of cross-country/Nordic skiing.
The various ski areas have rather different character and they are located at different altitude, which can be of great advantage in case of unstable weather. It can be sunny and clear at one place and snowy at another.
Passo Tonale also offers you a great variety of physical activities off the mountains, such as ice skating, snowshoesing or taking an exciting ride in a sleigh pulled by dogs. Since the ski area is quite large and stretches across several villages, it is also fun to just explore the area.
You can also take the train to Trento or Mezzocorona and change trains to Male. Continue by bus.
