Book in La Plagne
La Plagne is one of the most popular ski resorts in the French Alps, and the entire ski area is built around 11 smaller villages. It is also part of the larger Paradiski ski area, together with the resorts Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry. Like many other ski resorts in the French Alps, the ski lifts operate from mid-December and continue until the end of April, provided there is enough snow, of course.
The entire ski area La Plagne (Paradiski) consists of 225 kilometers of pistes and there are 74 lifts. The highest skiing can be found at an altitude of 1207 meter meters, and 70% of all pistes are located above 2000 meters. The high altitude of the slopes is one of the reasons why snow conditions are generally very good here, allowing the season to last as long as it usually does.
The entire ski area covers a large expanse, which means that even though there are plenty of groomed slopes, there are also great opportunities for off-piste skiing in untouched terrain. There are also plenty of guides in the La Plagne area who can help you find the best runs and ensure you find the safest places to ski off-piste.
If the children are too young to ski, that's no problem; the rest of the family can still enjoy skiing. There are many places around La Plagne that can take care of the children while you're out on the slopes, and you can find a number of places that can take care of the children here.
If you want to try a truly thrilling experience, you should test bobsledding, and La Plagne is an excellent place to do it. In the village of La Roche, one of the 11 villages that make up La Plagne, you can even do it on an Olympic track, as this was the track used in the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992. A normal bobsled reaches speeds of around 80 km/h, but if you're really daring, you can try a race bobsled, which reaches speeds closer to 120 km/h. It is recommended to book in advance as this is a very popular activity here.
