Interlaken - village adjacent to Wengen

The name of the place Interlaken means "between the lakes" and it is true that Interlaken is located in the middle between two lakes. In addition to its unusual position between the two lakes, Interlaken offers the opportunity to ski in the large Jungfrau Region, and the nearest ski resort from Interlaken in that ski area is Wengen.

It is easy to get to Wengen as there are plenty of daily train departures between the two towns, a train journey that usually takes just over half an hour. Although it takes a little time to get to the ski slopes if you choose to stay in Interlaken, it can be worth it as Interlaken is a bigger town compared to the villages that are part of the Jungfrau Region, and there is thus more choice of restaurants, bars and shops to explore when you're not out on the slopes.

Ski holiday in Interlaken

Before you start your ski vacation, all you need is to book a flight, a hotel and pack your bag. Rent ski equipment in Interlaken or bring your own.

Once on the slopes, enjoy the snow parks or the delightfully long and wide slopes. In case you feel unsteady on your skis or want to move to the next level, then you just need to sign up with one of the ski schools. Besides the wonderful skiing you can enjoy the sun and good food and drinks outside on a terrace at one of the restaurants up in the ski area. Skiing is about so much more than just getting down the hill as fast as possible, it's also about enjoying the surroundings, the food and the weather. More fun after a day on the slopes

After a day on the slopes, you can continue to one of the bars or clubs in Interlaken. If you want, you can be out and have fun with both tourists and locals until morning. In case you prefer to take it easy, you can instead go to one of the many restaurants for a good meal, or go to a spa to relax and take care of your body. You can also try your luck in the casino, take your partner to the movies or perhaps challenge your family in bowling. The choices are many, but whatever you want to do on your holiday, it will surely be successful in Interlaken.

Easy to travel to Interlaken

Interlaken is located at the same distance from both the airport in Zurich and the airport in Geneva, with about a two and a half hour drive to the ski resort. You can easily continue by rental car or by train as there are good rail connections. In case you would like to fly domestic you can fly in to the smaller airport at Bern, with no more than an hour to Interlaken.

In case you take the train, get off at Interlaken East and Interlaken West, but do book your train ticket in advance and check travel times.

Since Wengen is a part of the greater ski area of Jungfrau Region you of course also have access to this entire ski area when you book your accommodation in Interlaken.
