Courmayeur is the Italian cousin to Chamonix, situated on the other side of the Mont Blanc massif all the way at the rear of the Aosta Valley, just where the Mont Blanc tunnel starts on the Italian side. However, Chamonix and Courmayeur are still quite different. The Italian sense of taking it easy mized with great Italian cuisine turns Courmayeur into a very popular holiday ski resort.

You could theoretically also fly in to Geneva, which is close. To Chamonix it only takes about an hour but you face the high toll of the Mont Blanc tunnel, as well as potential traffic jams.
