Avoriaz ski resort is located in the Haute-Savoie forms part of the ski area Portes du Soleil . It's a really lovely place built around skiing, yet cozy. As an added bonus, there is a ban on car traffic. You have gliding distance to the slopes from most hotels and the kids can safely go sledding outside the hotel door without looking out for traffic. The only taxi services offered are run by horse and sleigh!
The slopes in Avoriaz offer something for all types of skiers, from beginners to those looking for excitement outside the piste. There are 5 green, 25 blue, 14 red and 6 black runs to discover. Several of the black runs are over three kilometers long! There are also several different snow parks to play in, including a very impressive half pipe, which is 120 meters long and six meters high.
For those who prefer going cross-country skiing, there are several tracks to choose from.
There are numerous exciting activities off the mountains, organized event schedule throughout the season. Music, Christmas, a cabaret week and a jazz festival are some examples. There is also a very good selection of restaurants and après-ski venues.
Do not leave Avoriaz without paying a visit to Aquariaz , which is a tropical inspired adventure that fits both children and adults. 34 degrees Celsius in the water and different "worlds" to discover, with thrilling water slides and a climbing wall. Outdoors there is a jacuzzi where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding views.

Best way to travel to Avoriaz?
It is easy to get to Avoriaz. The easiest way is to fly to Geneva about 80 kilometers away. The second best choice is Lyon, about 200 kilometers away. From the airport you can take a transfer bus, e.g. with Altibus. You can also take the train to Thonon Les Bain or Les Cluses and then take a shuttle bus from there.If you arrive by car, you need to leave your car outside of Avoriaz.
