Looking For a Change of Pace? Ski Croatia
If you’re searching for a slight change of pace from your traditional ski holiday, perhaps it’s time to consider a new location – Croatia. With lots of local flavor and three fantastic resorts to consider, it’s one you’ll want to add to your pins soon. The Benefits
Croatia doesn’t offer the same level of skiing the Alps does, but it does offer a level of peace and beauty many of the busiest resorts simply cannot compete with. What’s more, though, is that if you’re on a tight budget, this is certainly the place to consider. At just a fraction of the cost of many other countries, the entire experience here isn’t likely to blow your holiday budget for the next year.Resorts to Consider
Bjelolasica: Here you’ll find the Croatia Olympic Centre, and it offers some amazing skiing. It’s the country’s largest resort, and like many of the destinations here, it’s very easy to reach from Zagreb. You’ll not only find lots of downhill action, but also snow boarding and cross country skiing as well. If you’re new to the sport, they also offer lessons. The one drawback of this area is that it isn’t always as snowy as many skiers would like, so you may end up seeing some artificial snow on the slopes during your visit.Platak: If you’re looking for an amazing view on your ski holiday, you simply can’t do better than Platak. It’s located northeast of Rijeka, and here you’ll find seven different runs and completely natural snow on the slopes until late spring of each year. Hit the top, and you can see the ocean, an unbeatable view you’ll remember day after day as you head back to work after your holiday. You’ll even find Petehovac Mountain Lodge here, which boasts a mountain view in every single room.
Zagreb: Of all the resorts you’ll find in the country, this one is the most convenient. Mount Sljeme offers four total runs and three lifts. You’ll find skiing at every level here, but if you need a constant change of pace, this may not be the best choice for you. The season is fairly short, just three months, but it’s three months of very amazing snow. The resort itself is quite easy to get to, as well, via tram or bus from the centre of the city.
