Avoiding the Traffic Jams

It’s almost unavoidable. If you go skiing, sooner or later you’re going to hit a holiday where there’s lots of traffic on the slopes. Skiing behind, around, or even in front of others is often a very trying experience. Is there anything you can do to avoid it?

Ski Off-Peak. Some times of the year simply seem made for a ski holiday. You’re not the only person who thinks that either. If you’re thinking this date on the calendar or that one seems ideal for a quick trip to the Alps, you can be thousands of other individuals are thinking the same thing, and should you go ahead and book that holiday, you’re going to have trouble finding room to breathe, much less bookings to suit your needs.

Location, Location, Location. There are some spots that seem destined for traffic. There are others that are virtually undiscovered. Do a bit of research on your own. Figure out where most people decide to take a ski holiday, then see if you can uncover a spot close by that may host you, but not all of the associated traffic.

More Slopes. Feeling the need to ski that big name resort anyway? Those with more slopes tend to have a few added spots that no one visits. Do some detective work to figure out which of the slopes people hit more frequently and which ones are off the beaten path. You’ll not only avoid the problem of skiing around others, but you may see some beautiful sights along the way.

Go Powder. Skiing powder is a great way to avoid the traffic on the slopes. Not very many others are willing to ski powder, so be sure to book a good guide before your trip, then get ready to enjoy the mountains as you never have before.
